Fine Print — Really?

Why print is still viable in our digital world!

I have heard it said over and over again that ‘print is dead’! I couldn’t disagree more and here are the reasons why.

When it comes to direct mail – you know – junk mail as it is often referred to. If you compare response rates to that of it’s digital counter part, um SPAM – direct mail gets an average response rate of 4.4% versus .12% electronically. Junk, think again.

According to a recent USA Today report … Almost 2/3 of standard mail is read or looked at? This is huge for marketers! If you want to get the word out you should use print because people look at it!

But you say mail is old school and the younger millennials don’t read that stuff! You couldn’t be more wrong – here are some facts to consider.

  • 88% think print is more official
  • 82% think print is more trusted
  • 78% think print is easier to keep confidential
  • 74% think print is safer and more secure

Additionally — 70% of Americans, including 69% of 18-24 year olds, state they prefer to read print and paper communications rather then reading it off a screen!

Surprising? Think again — print reaches people in ways digital doesn’t, they can feel it, hold it and interact with it differently than they can from their backlit screens. Hopefully this will give you something to think about the next time you want to reach out to your customers or prospects!
